Stevie’s mom, Vivian, reports on her recent efforts:

“I’ve gone to Bellvue and Beth Israel in Manhattan, Kings County, Wykoff and Woodhull in Brooklyn, Jacobi, Bronx Lebanon, Lincoln, Montefiore and North Central in the Bronx. The hospital police have agreed to post flyers in the office, ERs, and some wards. Admissions in all have checked using her name, DOB, social, unknown and looked at admittance of females around her age and description in last 6 weeks, nothing.

My colleagues gave out over 1500 flyers near Times Square and the Port Authority area last Friday. Some have taken flyers into their neighborhoods. I have given flyers to fast food restaurants (asking that they display them in their staff lounges) in heavily populated areas on the eastside of Manhattan like 14th St, 23rd st, 54th st and 86th st.

I am looking into a private investigator. Would prefer someone who comes highly recommended with references, experience and the ability to obtain video surveillance that will enable us to follow her trail from 41st and 8th at 8:53am and beyond. Because PIs are so expensive and priced for a specific number of hours, we have to be careful to ask them to obtain specific and relevant info.

I’d like to start looking into locations where free food is being handed out and those Churches which provide no questions asked nightly shelter to the homeless. I will also start working on the westside of manhattan.

People who are willing and able can circulate flyers into fast food restaurants and request that they put them in their staff lounges, as well as asking gas attendants and supermarket managers to display them in their facilities. This can be done in their own neighborhoods, visiting neighborhoods and high traffic areas.

We are very close to $2000 now. Recommendations for PI are needed.”

My name is Vivian Bates and my 19 year old daughter, Stevie Bates is missing. I am hoping and praying that you can assist me in my quest to locate my daughter. I last spoke with her on April 27th at 7:52pm. She has not been heard from since or seen since April 28, 2012 at 8:51a.m. With the assistance of Yonkers detectives I was able to view video surveillance footage at NY Port Authority station which showed my daughter coming up the escalator from Port Authority terminal on April 28, 2012 at 8:51a.m.
After several attempts of trying to file a missing persons report with NYC Police and Port Authority Police I was constantly told I had to file the report where I currently reside (Yonkers), even though Stevie had not yet moved to Yonkers. I filed the missing persons report with Yonkers Police. However, Stevie’s last known address was in Brooklyn where she was staying with her older sister while we completed renovations on our new home in Yonkers. After speaking with NYC Police and finding out that Stevie is not coming up in NYC’s data base as a missing person I recently (May 25, 2012) re-filed a report with the 77th precinct in Brooklyn because Stevie’s was last seen via video footage at NY Port Authority and the fact that her last known residence was Brooklyn.
Stevie, who is a Bronx High School of Science Graduate, A National Achievement Scholar and a student of CUNY Hunter College, was previously involved in the current social movement and protest “Occupy Wall Street” from October through November of 2011. During her involvement in that movement Stevie was always in constant communication with me daily. I have had limited success with witnesses claiming to have seen Stevie and the police are not very proactive because 1) Stevie is 19 and  2) She is not being treated as a NYC resident. I have been searching tirelessly and endlessly for my daughter, and I will continue for the rest of my days until she is found. However, I can’t do it alone due to my limited resources and finances. I have serviced the NYC Public school system as a teacher for the last 19 years. It is my desire to find my daughter and I am requesting the help of the city she was born and raised in.
My family and I have created and posted fliers that are being circulated via face book, and shown in locations where she was known to frequent. We have added a cash reward of $1500.00 (one thousand five hundred dollars) to the flyer.
I am so desperate and afraid that my daughter’s case will become inactive the longer she goes missing. I find it impossible to eat, to sleep, to carry out functions that are normal to any human being.
I am not asking you, I am begging you, I am pleading with you to assist me with this desperate search for my daughter. Yes she is nineteen years old and she is my daughter.
